HybridCluster

HybridCluster is a full stack cloud hosting platform that instantly delivers high availability to deployed web applications, auto-scaling resources on demand and replicating data across live servers to be instantly restorable.

Overview

AwesomeProxy consists of distributed proxy servers, which route data to the node that is master for the FlexContainer containing the web, mail or database application, so each node provides an access point to the cluster.

FlexContainers use lightweight OS virtualization like chroot and BSD jails to isolate processes and perform resource management to provide security and high density for applications.

HCFS Storage uses the distributed file system and the snapshot feature in ZFS to replicate data across the local storage on each node, to provide redundancy and protection against user and system data corruption.

Control & Management monitors resource usage, live migrating FlexContainers by seamless moving the state from one node to another and balancing the load to maximise performance.

Requirements

HybridCluster can be deployed on two or more commodity dedicated servers with public IP addresses to provide cloud hosting platform.  The servers do not need to be identical, but should have similar specifications.  Each server should have at least a quad-core processor, 16GB memory and two hard drives.  More servers can be seamlessly added later as the platform will automatically integrate them and distribute the load across them.  For disaster recover, a minimum of four servers is required, two of each in remote data centres.

Deployments

Installing HybridCluster is very simple.

Step 1.

Firstly, install HybridBase, a modified version of FreeBSD, from an ISO, either locally or via a remote automated provisioning system.

Step 2.

Next, configure a new instance in Launchpad, the HybridCluster management web interface, and will complete the installation remotely.

Step 3.

Finally, configure the primary domain name in Launchpad to set up the name servers and set up the glue records with your registrar.
